Physical and Occupational Therapy Teams at Health Care Associates in Medicine, PC Work closely with physicians to develop personalized treatments that help patients regain movement and independence. They offer a full range of rehabilitation from musculoskeletal and sports injuries to post orthopedic and neurological conditions. Physical therapy is centered on patients whose medical conditions or injuries have limited their abilities to move and function. While helping patients to recover mobility, movements are taught to prevent future problems. This specifically designed approach assesses the needs of each patient in order to achieve optimal functioning. Our specialized treatment plan fuses a manual, hands-on approach with a complete line of modalities including therapeutic ultrasound, electrical stimulations, therapeutic exercise and machines such as the Biodex treadmill, stationary and upper extremity bicycles and free weights. Therapists will evaluate patients and can make suggestions for at home therapy, regarding modifications that work toward making their recovery a positive outcome. The goal of our Physical Therapy Department is to get you moving again! Talk to your primary care physician to learn how physical therapy could benefit you, or contact our Physical Therapy Service at (718) 448-3210. Occupational Therapy Our Occupational Therapy department specializes in treating shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand disorders with the emphasis on restoring patients to optimum physical performance. Individuals with painful conditions such as arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome and all fractures of the upper extremity and tendon injuries often benefit from occupational therapy. Our Occupational Therapy team also treats pediatric orthopedic injuries as well as those suffering from limitations following neurological dysfunction (e.g. strokes). We also treat upper extremity nerve injury related problems. By providing special equipment such as custom splints and sharing ideas for doing work and home tasks, occupational therapy professionals can help speed healing and reduce chances of further injury. |
