NATIONAL COMING OUT DAY 2023
Committed to fostering an environment that encourages others to feel safe and open about their identities, our offices partnered with Northwell Health in celebrating National Coming Out Day; an annual awareness day dedicated to supporting and celebrating ‘coming out’ as LGBTQIA+.
INTERNATIONAL OVERDOSE AWARENESS DAY 2023
International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) is a global event held annually on August 31 in remembrance of those gone too soon from overdose deaths, those impacted by overdoses, and in an effort to prevent future overdoses. IOAD marks a pivotal event in Northwell's mission to raise awareness about overdose prevention and provide essential support to our fellow team members and the communities we serve. Participating in IOAD, Healthcare Associates in Medicine distributed dozens of Narcan kits and educational materials to our community members. Barriers were broken and heartfelt stories were shared; most notably, a personal recount from an NYPD officer sharing his experiences and offering valuable advice to the team.

BASEBALL IS BACK IN FULL SWING
April 1st marked the start of the 2021 Major League Baseball Season. Opening Day is special for baseball fans across the country. To our orthopedic surgeon Dr. John Reilly, it holds a deeper meaning. In recognition of 20 years of diligent service to the NY Yankees as their Minor League Team Physician, Dr. Reilly was presented an award from the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society.

CENTER FOR HIP & KNEE REPLACEMENT
With the recent expansion of the Center for Hip and Knee Replacement, our board certified orthopedic surgeon Dr. David Hip-Flores performed the first joint replacement at SIUH’s south site.
